Event Description: The early-stage support group is for individuals with early-stage memory loss and their care partners to develop a support system with people going through similar life journeys. The group is participant driven, promotes socialization, and fosters well-being and personal growth. Discussion topics may include careers, families, friends, social activities, independence vs. dependence, understanding the diagnosis, driving, medical, physical and emotional challenges, loss, frustration, happiness and joy. There is a waiting list for the Oakland County group and the need for a Macomb County Early Stage Support group is just as great. This support group is unique because there are two groups that meet at the same time: One group for those with early memory loss and one group for their care partner. Both groups foster well-being and personal growth by providing an avenue to exchange practical information on community resources, understanding the diagnosis, as well as physical and emotional challenges. A pre-assessment is required to attend. Individuals interested can call the Alzheimer’s Association Harry L. Nelson Helpline at 800.272.3900 for more information.

The meetings will be the second Wednesday of each month from 6:00-7:00pm at SarahCare Adult Day Center, 13425 19 Mile Rd., Ste 500, Sterling Heights, MI 48313 (North West Corner of 19 ad Schoenherr) Pre-Assessment required at the above number.
